5 Denver Art Recommendations

The Denver art scene is booming. If you live in the area or visiting then I would recommend visiting any of these art spaces. These five spaces feature everything an artist would need from exhibitions to workshops. Of course these are only a handful of the art spaces in Denver so be sure to explore for yourself!

The premiere art museum of Denver. If you’re looking for exhibits from world renowned artists then look no further. One of DAM’s previous exhibitions was Rembrandt: Painter as Printmaker and featured rarely seen prints from master painter Rembrandt. Their current blockbuster exhibition is Dior featuring over 200 garments from the fashion house. If you haven’t seen the exhibit, you only have until March 17 to do so. Opening October 21, 2019 Claude Monet: The Truth of Nature will be the most comprehensive U.S exhibition of Monet works in two decades. If you’re looking for a wide variety of art under one roof then I would recommend the Denver Art Museum.

MCA is where you’ll find the cutting edge of contemporary art. Their current exhibitions are Aftereffect: O’keeffe and Contemporary Painting, Andrew Jensdotter: Flak and Amanda Wachob: Tattoo This. Not only does MCA feature great exhibitions but they also host plenty of events such as B-Side Fridays which is back on March 8 with the music of Bellhoss and Midwife. The event is free with museum admission and will be held in the museum’s rooftop bar and cafe. Be sure to keep your eye out for MCA’s events because there are plenty.

CPAC is the only non-profit in Denver dedicated exclusively to photography. If you want to view some photography, their current exhibition Inspiration | Expression features works by Clyfford Still and five contemporary artists. It’s a joint exhibition with the Clyfford Still Museum two blocks away which is exhibiting Clyfford Still & Photography. If you want to learn about photography then you can attend a class or workshop at CPAC and if you’re looking for a place to process your photos then CPAC also offers darkroom and digital lab rentals. The yearly Month of Photography is underway in Denver so come celebrate it with a visit to the Colorado Photographic Arts Center.

Need more photography? Also a part of the Month of Photography in Denver, Redline is opening two photography shows on March 9. Delirium features the work of mentors, colleagues, disciples, and new discoveries while Nest is a celebration of the DIY space Rhinoceropolis. Redline is more than a gallery though. It’s an art education and engagement organization that is a great source for any artist in the Denver area.

If you’re looking for your new favorite artist then head to Leon. Leon is an innovative gallery exhibiting emerging artists. Their current exhibition 1910 - Cut From The Same Cloth features the work of snowboard/skate artists Schoph and Jamie Lynn only runs until March 2 so be sure to see it. Their next exhibition is Jeff Davenport - Nights which opens March 9 at 7:00.
